HSBC Leicester
Project Requirements
The HSBC project required a support system with the flexibility to support a multitude of air handling units and associated services, including mounting pipe work, ducting and cable trays.
After detailed consultations with AC2000, the AC Contractor, Big Foot Systems were selected to provide a complete custom support solution. The custom frameworks for the AHUs were designed to allow the positioning of the services directly underneath the units, supported on cable trays. This eliminated the need for extra fabrication of cable tray supports saving roof space and reducing the cost and time of the installation.
Big Foot products were used to support all the various types of roof plant and services on site, a key factor in the decision to select Big Foot Systems for the project. Alongside the custom framework, H-Frames and Multi Foot were used to carry the duct work and pipe work. The contractor was able to use their own Unistrut products to build the supports on-site rather than lifting heavy, pre-fabricated systems onto the roof. This was essential for a site located in a busy city centre and prevented lengthy and expensive crane hire.
The flexibility of the systems allowed the Big Foot design team to modify the design of the equipment to overcome unexpected installation problems. During the install, Big Foot Systems offered full technical and sales support to the contractor which meant that work on-site was not delayed.
Mr Thompson from AC2000 said that “Big Foot Systems are absolutely cracking kit, the system was designed within 48 hours” he continued “we have recently used Big Foot Systems again as it offers an all in one solution.”
